Part 16
The Flood Story

There are incidents in the Bible where people just transcended, such as Enoch…”he was not” (this was the second Enoch). Elisha went up in the chariot, Moses went up to the mountain top.  Enoch is the first one we hear of who just transcended and we do not hear of him dying.  At this time the peoples had reached a very high level of spiritual instruction. Enoch was an instructor out of the Chaldi College and the people were being taught to have direct communication with God. God spoke to them if they walked with Him.  This is when we had “giants in the land”, sons of God, and the sons of God married the daughters of man.

The daughters of man, were the descendents of Cain; possession, acquisition, centralization, draws to itself, selfishness, earthly.  The Sons of God were the descendents of Seth.

Noah is the descendent of Seth.  A quote from the Unity Metaphysical Bible “Seth... settled, determined, founded, the root idea of the name Seth is that of a surrounding sympathetic movement that envelopes a thing and defines its limits, places it, founds it, disposes of it.  Some mystics have seen in the name Seth a law of destiny, that which predetermines a thing and settles its order. While man is in a sense a creature of free will, yet in a larger sense he is a son of God, made in the image and likeness of God, and is destined to express and demonstrate spiritual perfection. There is in all the universe, including man, a balancing power of good, of perfection, which causes a readjustment, a healing, to set in after every transgression of the law, every wandering away from what is wholesome and true. We find this set forth very clearly in Bible history, and symbology. Man seems ever to have wandered away to the limit; then a great reaction has set in, and he has been led back to a saner level. Thus he evolves, grows; and finally he shall come into a full consciousness of his perfect good.  His growth into Christ-likeness is accelerated greatly as he comes into a knowledge of the Truth that makes free, and thinks and acts consciously, voluntarily, in harmony with it”.

Seth’s descendants had carried down a higher spiritual level of teaching. Because of the marriage of the two, they were classified as giants in the land. Enoch was the first human being to complete his evolution and become a Son of God, others followed in his steps.  The Sons of God mentioned as existing in numbers in the pre-flood period, were teaching their wisdom to many, so there were giants in those days.  There was a great spiritual advance but it was abused.  The people were into power, illustrated by the names of Cain’s descendants. (see the January ‘PULSE’)

(A quote from the Hidden Bible by Walter Leary)   “ When the sons of Gods withdrew their instruction, their work rested, and this is symbolized by the name Noah, which means rest.  The product or result of this rest appears in the names of the sons of Noah.

Shem  -  means name of fame

Ham  -  means blackness

Japheth  -  means widespreading.

As a result of the rest or inactivity of the sons of God, their name or fame was blacked out, and widespread blackness or spiritual darkness followed,

(This is us today, for hardly anybody is really interested in a spiritual life, so there is a spreading blackness in our society)

In the story of the flood the Bible describes a great natural cataclysm, in which all traces of a previous civilization were wiped out. It was not a deluge, but a great flood; the forty days of rain were secondary.  The same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.  And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

Apparently a great earthquake broke up the bed of the oceans, sending tidal waves of salt water over all the lower land areas.  Mountain dwellers alone would escape.  The earth did not dry out for a full year. Climatic conditions, apparently changed, as seasons are mentioned as being instituted, and the rainbow in the heavens is mentioned as something new, to be in the future a covenant between God and man.  The glacial age in North America and Europe ended abruptly.   Geologists tell of glaciers receding at a slow annual rate up to about 12,500 years ago, after which the annual recession rate increased rapidly.

The sudden change of climate might be accounted for by a great earthquake displacing the ocean waters, and changing the earth’s balance, which might cause a shift in its axis, and bring the equator further north. Deposits of seashells have been found on mountains far from the sea, and fossils of tropical animals in what is now the frigid zone. It seems possible that the Bible flood and the sudden ending of the glacial age may have occurred at the same time, and such a catastrophe would account for the fact that no trace has been found of the pre-flood civilizations”.

The story of Noah is very well known to everyone. But the same story was insistent prior to the time of Noah in many, many parts of the world. In the Noah story we know about the forty days and forty nights of rain, building the ark, and sending out the birds. The Chaldean story, from which the Noah story was probably borrowed, is the same story.  The only difference is that the name instead of being Noah is Xisuthrus.  Xisuthrus was the king of Chaldea, son of Ardates, prior to the time of Abraham.  This story was told by a Chaldean historian and found in Syria by George Smith of the British Museum.  There is said to be sixteen countries with the same flood story.

The Chaldeans were the early teachers that came across the continent, spreading from Lemuria into Asia, across through India, and into Babylonia.  These were the ancient teachers, ancient masters of whom Elisha was a descendent. Elisha taught at the Chaldi School, as did Melchizedek .  The schools were called Chaldi Colleges because they built wooden stockades, then called Chaldi, all around them as protection from animals. Hence - Chaldi Colleges.  Anyone could attend the schools, there was no charge and once  entered all were treated  the same.   The people that descended from these colleges therefore were called Chaldeans, the ancestors of the Magi, the three wise men in the story of Jesus.

There is always the continuity that comes down through these stories; you will see this continuity in the Noah story.  The original flood is supposed to have been when the earth tilted.  Lemuria and Atlantis went down because of this, and spiritually because the people started to abuse their power. They had become very highly developed technically. There has been found cell batteries 100,000 years old, statues of Chinese and Hindu figures 20,000 years old, and history of India that includes flying ships.

The Hindus have a legend with the name Satyadrata. Persia has their Noah legend in the Zend-Avesta, which is supposed to have been written around 600-500 BC, the Chinese have Yaou, the Greek Noah was Deucalion and his wife was Pyrrha.  It is all the same story, there is to be a deluge and everyone is to be destroyed except for one righteous family.  This legend did not start from the Jewish history it started in Lemuria.  It is the story of Lemuria going down, then someone being saved.  The descendents then spreading across Asia, going through and leaving their legends in China, India, what is now Chaldea and Babylonia, taken down by Abraham into Palestine, over into Greece and Rome.

The Mexicans and Mayans also have the same story, because there were two lines of travel and colonization. They went from the two islands in the Pacific (Lemuria) and the Atlantic (Atlantis). One line West to China and India, the other East which ended in Egypt.  Egypt was a colony from Lemuria, so the Egyptians knew that the story was really the drowning of Lemuria. By the time the story arrived in the Bible it was a legend of several thousand years.

On to Noah himself next time . . .

Part 17

So back to Noah and his version of the story of the flood.

Chapter 6 -

Verse 15 "And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.”

Ark … means a holy abode; a sanctuary; a tabernacle; any vessel for preservation; body of light.  The ark is the protection we draw around us, when we go into rest. (Noah means rest) Sometimes when we have a challenge in the world the first thing to do is go to bed, draw the darkness around us by drawing the sheets over us. The ark is our protection by floating on the waters, waters in this case - spirit in a lower form, the psychic.  The psychic is what had developed in those days.  The psychic is there for us to float on, move over, and move through.  It is not for us to get stuck in, or we’ll drown.  The psychic helps us move forward.   It is a wonderful experience, to move through, but do not stay in it.

Rooms …Storehouse of ideas.  So the animals in the different rooms are all the various planes of nature, all the different levels.

Animals …are thoughts.  Predatory animals (lions, wolves) are conscious thoughts or fears, sheep are quiet thoughts. Lurking animals (crocodiles, serpents) are subconscious thoughts or fears, and serpent is the mind. Birds are intuition.

Here again this story is the story of each of us for we are Noah. Noah was told to build an ark, in spite of the skepticism of his neighbors.  If you saw the confused film on TV recently, the only thing that might be gained from it is the size of the ark and the concept that perhaps the animals found Noah.

So after the reasons for the flood that we discussed in the last issue, let us look at the flood and what we can learn from the events described.

Chapter 8 -

Verse 6   "And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made."
Verse 7 "And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters dried up from off the earth."
Verse 8 "Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground."

Window …indicates that the ego in the causal body always has a means of access to the more lofty piritual level of awareness.

Raven …intellect, the failure of the raven to return indicates that the concrete mind alone can not receive and reveal full spiritual illumination.

Dove …intuitions, the return of the dove with the olive leaf indicates that the intuition is able to convey illumination because of its oneness with universal life, typified by the olive tree from which the leaf had been plucked.

So Noah opened the window to his God consciousness and allowed his intellect and intuition freedom, because he walked with God.  We should open our minds and intuition to God, for we always have access if we but allow ourselves to listen and know.

But just like every society we allow ourselves to become involved in our evolutionary process and as shown by the begats of Chapter 10.  After all God told Noah to go forth and multiply!

Chapter 10 -

Verse 1  "Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and unto them were sons born after the flood.”

Note nothing about daughters here which shows that even though Noah was saved their spiritual life remained dormant – they were into survival , Wouldn’t you be?

This link will take you to a list of begats that are worth looking at to show progress on a spiritual path.

Part 18

If you followed the begats in the last edition of ‘Pulse’ you would have found that the descendent line from Shem the son of Noah led us to Nahor, Terah, and then Abram.  Now you are on familiar ground with the first of the Partriarchs.

But before then we have to take a look at the Tower of Babel:
Through all the begats, mankind went down considerably, in their spiritual lives, because the teachings were hidden from them for quite a while.  They had to virtually start all over again.  Even after Noah, (rest) because his son’s names (Ham) meaning blackened and (Jatheth) meaning wide spreading, there was a wide spreading blackness over the earth and the peoples. Mankind had a hard time pulling themselves out of it.   This caused man to literally lose faith in God, and materialism took over.  This can be told by the names they had at this time such as Tubal-Cain, meaning mineral principle, physical power, metals and the instruments made from them. A diffusion of worldly possessions.   Everything was very much material.

The story off Babel is really an allegory of those times.  They had no faith in the future, so they wanted to create a heaven upon earth.   But they went about it in the wrong way, every person was going their own direction.  This is why there was a confusion of tongues, everybody created their own language.  They stopped communicating by E.S.P, which previously they had been able to do.  Since they weren’t using this faculty anymore they started using speech.  But each person had their own idea of what heaven should be like.  Finally Nimrod gathered the people together.

Chapter 11

Verse 1 "And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.”
Verse 2 “And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east (leaving the within, leaving their inner spiritual life), that they found a plain in the land of  Shinar (means, two rivers, a divided mind, they are living good and evil)and they dwelt there.”
Verse 3 “And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly.   And they had brick (materialistic conclusion) for stone and slime (is reasoning) had they for mortar.”

This was the time of reason, everything had to be reasoned out from the material point of view. Rather like today.

Verse 4 “And they said, Go to, let us build us a city, and a tower, whose top  may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.”
Verse 5 “And the Lord (the Law) said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”

So they were going to build this tower in the middle of a plain, they didn’t have enough sense to build it on a mountain, higher up, but that would have meant going into a higher state of consciousness (the meaning of mountain), and getting closer to God.

Verse 7 “Go to, Let us go down, and there confound their language, that they  may not understand one another’s speech.”
Verse 8 “So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.”
Verse 9 “Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.”
Verse 10 “These are the generation of Shem: Shem was a hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:”

Here they are telling us that everything was very carefully tested and was put together with reason.

You have all the begets of Shem, from Shem to Peleg which means separation through grace, recognizing a higher nature, moral distinction, distinction of principles, a water course.   Beginning with Peleg they are starting to move up a little.

Verse 25 “And Nahor lived after he begat Terah a hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.”
Verse 26 “And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.”
Verse 27 “Now these are the generation of Terah; Terah begat Abram, Nahor and Haran, and Haron begat Lot.”
Verse 28 “And Haran dies before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.”
Verse 29 “And Abram and Nahor took them wives; the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.”

This is the first time we hear of a wife being named.  Abram’s wife Sarai means bitter, contentious, dominative, quarrelsome, the soul contending for its rightful place in consciousness.  Sarai was later changed to Sarah.   Bahor’s wife was named  Milcah, which means queen, rule, counsel, advice, the soul expressing dominion, wisdom, and good judgment.

Verse 30 “But Sarai was barren, she had no child.”
Verse 31 “And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abrams’s wife; and they went forthwith them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran and dwelt there.”
Verse 32 “And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran.”

In the Greek version of the Old Testament  - The Septuagint
This version speaks only of, “the land of the Chaldees” (Chaldi’s) and do not mention Ur.

Terah - lagging behind, loitering, delaying, maker of idols
Nahor – passionate
Haron  – strong elevated
Abram  – exalted father
Chaldeans  – wise men

So Abram could have had a good education from the wise men of the Chaldi colleges. It doesn’t mention Haran's wife, but his son was Lot. Lot’s wife mentioned but not named, and the same with Lot’s daughters.

So next time we finally get to the Patriarchs!
